Why Use A Price Comparison Web Site?
Remember the days when you could only choose to buy your goods from your local high street, or out of town retail park? Or perhaps if it was a major purchase you would get in the car on a Saturday and travel a couple of hours to a larger retail complex or shopping center in another city to get a wider choice. You would then walk in to Currys, Comet or PC World looking for a new Washing Machine, TV or PC and you would look at the ones in the displays and pick one there and then, paying what ever price they charge you. Perhaps even the store had an 'exclusive' offer on to draw you in and make you feel like you must buy that fridge freezer right now or to help you make an impulse buy of something you didn't really need!
The particularly savvy amongst you may have done a little research in magazines such as What HiFi? or Which? and then looked at the adverts in the magazine and found a retailer selling the product you've chosen for the best price. You'd then wait 'up to 28 days' for it to be delivered, but at least you knew you'd saved that little bit of money by doing it that way!
Now, with the rise of the internet over the last decade we have at our fingertips access to more retailers than we could ever imagine. These retailers know they are competing against not just the other stores on a high street or retail park but against every other retailer in the UK that has an internet presence. This means that to get you to buy from them they need to offer rock bottom prices and an exemplarary level of service. They also know that you want to receive the goods as soon as possible and that delivery can often be a deal breaker - so the most competitive sites will also offer next day delivery - others will have it to you in a couple of days at the most. And the majority will deliver for free.
So in modern times the way to make sure you get the most suitable product for the best price is to choose the product first and then choose the retailer. Using magazines and the internet you can find the product that meets your needs best and by looking at reviews and other consumers opinions you can make a truly educated opinion. You can of course still visit your local electrical superstore and browse the limited range of products they have on display, but you'd be silly to just buy the product on the spot - take a note of the brand and product code and go home and do a google search and see what people are saying about it first. Then, when you have chosen the product, that is when you need to use a price comparison site to make the right choice as to which retailer your going to buy it from.
